How do pictures that are 4x3 aspect ratio look on digital picture frames that are in 16x9 aspect ratio?
A lot of digital picture frames (especially 7") are a widescreen (16x9) frame but most pictures you take with a digital camera are a full screen image (4x3). So what does the frame do to these pictures? Does it add black bars to the sides of the pictures or does it stretch the pictures to make them fit the entire screen but causing the picture to be distorted? Thanks!

- Well if you have a 4:3 picture and you try and fit it on a 16:9 widescreen frame, I'm pretty sure it would stretch the picture, but I doubt it'll give you bars on the side. 16:9 doesn't equal 4:3 when you divide it by 3. 16:9 divided by three would give you 5.3:3 instead of 4:3, so it would stretch.
- A 16x9 has a 4x3 ratio. It's the sizing you're concerned about. The image will be somewhat pixelated, yes, but most frames will try to compensate for this by mapping the surrounding pixels and filling in, as opposed to just enlarging the groups. You may notice some distortion in some images, but personally, I wouldn't recommend buying a large digital frame; top out at a 9" if you must, but the 16" is too big. |:{}
- Take a look at the link below. You will see that there are many cameras now that allow you to choose 3:2, 4:3 or 16:9 ratios while you are shooting. http://www.dpreview.com On the other hand you can crop your images to 16x9 later using software on your computer
