How important is the photographers job in photography? Obviously the photographer is needed to take the picture, but as things digitize it seems the photographer looses some of their usefulness. Take fashion photography, the setting is already there, the makeup and clothing is already there too, the taking of the picture seems quite mechanical at this point. As an ameteur photographer, I think patience plays a large part of my 'job'. The patience to look for worthy material and to wait for the right moment to take the picture. Editing software can take care of any small tweaks that are needed...so besides patience, what else is needed in order to take a great photo these days? and is the photographers usefulness diminishing?

How many photographers are using photoshop to clean up their images? I'm 24 and have a budding interest in photography. Right now I have to use the equipment I have. Anyway, I have looked online at professional photographers work (often they are younger than me) and I notice the color pops out a little to much or everything looks just a little to clean. I compared these images to some books I own such as the Photobook and The World's Best Photography: Photojournalism and didn't see any work that came off like so many images I've looked at online. Basically, the color is just to perfect (almost to a level that seems animated) when compared to legitimate professional photographers. Why are some digital photographers so freaked over tech specs and other technical issues? I can understand if you're a commercial photographer and you have an assignment you have to fulfill to expect specifications, but for creative and artisitic photography, why are so many digital photographers so obsessed over the most minute tech details. Most artists--including photographers--do their best work by exploiting accidents or 'mistakes.' For example, photographers will get obsessed over reducing noise when 'noise' can be used as a creative artifact--if you're so hung up about getting it 'right,' I'd think you're limiting your chances of doing really original work. Pros and cons to this view? These are mostly excellent answers and it's truly impossible to select the 'best' since they have varying perspectives. I didn't mean to say being technically oriented was a bad thing--sometimes it seems people get obsessed to the degree they lose sight of the original purpose for inquiring about a particular technical element. How do photographers change photo backgrounds? My son goes to a preschool. Once in a while some photographers go there and take picture of the kids. Then they send parents the pictures with the kid in different backgrounds, like sitting in front of a pond, etc. How do they do that? why are wedding photographers so expensive?? amateur photographers a possibility? I am getting married soon....and I am appalled at the price of wedding photographers. My husband and I are both attorneys (i.e. make good salaries), but have no desire to spend thousands of dollars on a photographer! We just want photos to keep the memories, nothing fancy. We are having a small American style ceremony followed by a Chinese style banquet (I am Caucasian) and he is Chinese. We have kept the other costs very low while still planning a classy gathering (small guest list, the chinese banquet is quite inexpensive, etc). What have other savvy brides to be done to avoid these outrageous costs? (so far, the entire bill is coming up to about only $10500.) I considered having a friend who is an amateur photographer serve as our wedding photographer, which he offered to do for free, but I will probably pay him $250 anyways. I didn't know if this was a good idea...has anyone else done it? (we are in los angeles and getting married in santa barbara) i meant the total for the entire wedding will be 10500. still looking for a photographer - that's the last thing.

Photographers that photographed cemeteries? I have a class project where I have to emulate a photographers style or subject matter. I really like picturing flowers and cemeteries for the monuments and statues. I've found some photographers for the flowers but I haven't had any luck finding a photographer that shoots cemeteries. Looking for Wedding Photographers in Houston, what is the average price, what to ask potential photographer? Things are starting to get a little hectic and need some help!!! We are looking for a wedding photographer around the Houston, TX area. Any newly weds with advice on picking a photographers? There are so many to choose from! What should I look for? Do wedding photographers using digital cameras, let the couple keep the disc of pics.Under what terms usually? Can the wedding couple keep the disc of photos from a professional wedding photographer? Back with negatives, the couple would have to pay for the negatives, what are the traditional terms now with digital images? If they charge, how much usually. Ok here's my situation. awhile back this girl from myspace was telling me she was in Playboy magazine and got checks for $25,000 for modeling and that she could help me get into it. I naturally got excited at the thought of making that kind of money for modeling that was until she told me that she slept with the photographer so she could get the job. Photographers--how do I practice f/stops and shutter speeds? I am an aspiring photographer. People say that I should start my business now b/c people will like my photos enough to buy them now but I'd like to wait to learn more about my camera first. I take my best photos with my basic digital shoot and snap canon powershot 512. But when I use my Canon Rebels (I have one film and one digital), I am so lost. I can't figure out shutter speeds and f/stops to save my life. I know how to get the camera to figure it out for me, but I need to learn for myself to have better control of lighting. photographers/artists??? Doing an a level project and ive have a final outcome but no photographers or artists that i should have researched before hand. My photos are black and white prints of a young boys face with harsh, dramatic lighting. Half of the face you cannot see due to shadow. I've never had this drive for anything else in my life, I'm constantly taking pictures, learning new skills, and it's all I talk about with any passion. With the internet, videos, and how digital has taken over, are photographers still going to be in demand? Do professional photographers get to shoot what they want and not what an employer wants/? I read about professional photographers who will take on just about any assignment so long as it pays decently. But I look on my photography as artistic expression. I already work for someone doing something I like, so I'm thinking that if as a photographer, most of my paid assignments would be determined by some editor or art director, then why try to become a pro? I already get assigned work and make a good living at it. So should I just reserve my photography for artistic expression?

What photographers want vs. what the public wants.? In regards to portraits what are your opinions on this statement: "Most photographers want to be distinctively different from their colleagues in the products they offer the public and they want to be highly creative. Question for photographers - modeling and makeup? I have a photo shoot this weekend (my first pro gig) - do photographers generally like models to wear makeup (I'm male). Why do photographers shoot pictures of animals in the wild dying, (not from conflict)and do nothing? Don't they have any empathy, how can you not rescue the animal? To me that means photographers have no ethics and are only driven by sales. The beings they watch die have feelings and suffer, or are their photographers that can see past a picture???? Wedding reception photographers in Northern NJ or lower NY..? My wedding is Sept. 9th in Plainfield, NJ... which is just under an hour away from Manhattan in Northern Jersey. annnnd the photographer I had lined up CAN'T do it anymore. To all photographers: How to approach people? I'm a very outgoing person, but for some reason when it comes to street photography, I find it hard to walk up to someone and ask something like 'excuse me, is it alright if I can take your picture?' Which of these two wedding photographers would you choose? (1) a 50 year old with hundreds of weddings under his belt. His work looks pretty standard for photographers with his experience. Has typical experienced wedding photographer personality - not bad, not great. No fashion/model photography experience. (1) a young 30 year old with hipper, sexier, edgier work. He has a 3 or 4 dozen weddings under his belt - all his work looks good. Has significant fashion/model photography experience. Because of age, appears more fun to be around. Price is about $500 more than the older gentlemen. Packages provide similar albums and photos.
