  1. Forget stock photo sites they pay pennies. Look for ‘rights managed’ libraries such as Foto Libra.

You’ll make more by photographing portraits, children, pets etc. than any photo site, but not only do you need all the gear you have to know how to use it, which I can see you do.

I echo Pookies comments, forget slide shows on a website, the average time people look at a web page is 5 seconds any more and they just move on.

  2. A feedback if I may.

There are some lovely photos on your website–as the layout is, I think, good. But unfortunately it takes a long time to load each page (I’m on a T1 line at work). Anyone with a slower connection may not be patient enough to wait until the next page is visible.

  3. Hi Matt,

I’ve written a basic article on selling photos on micro-stock sites. Here’s the link: http://quazen.com/arts/photography/stock-photography-sell-your-images/

They may pay pennies to start with, but once you’ve built up your portfolio a bit your income can increase quite fast. I know people that make careers (and good career too) just by selling photos online.

You’ve definitely got skill and I think your photos could sell well on these sort of sites.

All the best Matt, I’m sure you’ll do really well. I hope this answer helped.

  4. You can submit photos to stock photography sites. You need a decent volume though to make real money.

  5. I would suggest looking into Phogos. Phogos are life size images that come from your own camera . (much like fatheads, but cheaper AND they are your own work.) This may be a great product for you to look into. You can take pictures of people and include this as part of their package.

  6. I just started a few weeks ago in the world of Microstock and have so far made a total of $60 from about 6 sites. Each portfolio has anywhere from 10 to 50 images in it. So clearly when I eventually have say 1000 images on all of these sites I will be making over 1,000 per month. Of course I plan to keep going indefinitely and will have more than 1,000 images at some point.
